Personal Assistant to DVC:E&T
Pesta is the personal assistant to the DVC:E&T. She is currently completing her Honours in Business Management at Mandela, building on undergraduate qualifications in IT and Management Practice. Pesta has worked at Mandela University since 2011, and has provided professional support in both academic and non-academic spaces with the University.
Getting to know me
1. How would you define your role within the Engagement and Transformation team?
I provide professional administrative support to the DVC:E&T, as well as co-ordinate initiatives and events aligned with ETP.
2. What does Engagement and Transformation in Higher Education look like to you?
To encourage alignment between the academic project and the values of the University to ensure an inclusive and adaptable space of Learning and Teaching.
3. Describe your job in 3 words.
Multifaceted, fulfilling, challenging
4. What is your favourite activity when you are not in the office?
Reading, movies, and online shopping.
5. What is your favourite place on Earth?
Home with family (because I work away from home, being home is always special).

7. If you could change something in the world, what would it be?
For equality to be a reality, and not just box-ticking exercise.
8. What would you be able to give a 30-minute presentation about without any advanced preparation?
Basic computer training on any of the Mandela systems (i-enabler, back office, MS office etc).
9. What is the best piece of professional advice you have ever received?
Your attitude will determine if you make a success of each challenge or not.

Leaving a legacy for my daughter.
